2026 Backpacks for Hunger | Resurrection Leawood
Summary:
*Please note, the Backpacks for Hunger program runs
during the school year.
Volunteer to take part in filling bags with nutritious,
kid-friendly food for students who might otherwise go hungry over the weekend.
We work with several elementary schools and early childhood learning programs
who identify students who would benefit from participating in the program. This
team meets weekly at our Resurrection Leawood Location in the basement of
Building A (5009 W. 137th St., Leawood, KS 66224).
Fill Team Position Descriptions
Table Leaders
Volunteer Experience: Intermediate
Table Leaders are responsible for
ensuring the correct number of bags are placed in the corresponding bin with
the school and teacher's information. Table Leaders may also be trained to use
the pallet jack to maneuver the pallets of bin to and from the tables. Lastly,
they assist with cleanup after completion.

Bag Fillers
Volunteer Experience: Beginner
Bag Fillers are responsible for
putting the correct food items into the sacks for distribution. This position
is great for volunteers of all ages, but does require walking. Instructions on
how to fill a bag will be demonstrated at the beginning of the hour. Lastly,
they assist with cleanup after completion.
