Join us in honoring the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during our MLK Weekend Serve events. On Saturday, January 17, we will be building kindergarten readiness kits for the Kansas City Kansas Public School District to hand out to their Pre-K families. The kindergarten transition is a pivotal time in a preschooler’s life. When children and families have a successful transition to kindergarten and plenty of opportunities to prepare for school, the greater the likelihood they will have a successful educational journey. The activities and materials in the kits are specifically designed to help preschoolers with readiness skills and development such as language and literacy, math, fine motor, and more. The Kindergarten Readiness kits provide a tangible way to partner and connect with families. The kits also offer opportunities for quality, uninterrupted family time. With this program, we are able to reach the whole KCK community including district preschoolers, community childcare centers, local churches, and in-home daycares.
